Radio Testimony

I listened to the radio. There was a man giving his testimony. He was saying preachers always said “you’re a sinner and you’re going to Hell.” He went to church about once a year because his wife was always wanting him to go. The message was always the same. “You’re a sinner and you’re going to Hell.” One year he went to a church where the message was different. He sat there waiting for that familiar message. This time the preacher said something different. “God loves you just the way you are.” The man thought, “How could God love me just the way I am? I’m a mess.” The man returned to church the next week. The message was the same. “God loves you just the way you are.” The preacher asked if he could come to visit. The man said yes. He sat waiting for that familiar message of “You’re a sinner and you’re going to Hell.” It never came.
So finally the man asked, “Okay, when are you going to say it?”
“Say what,” the preacher asked.
“That I’m a sinner and I’m going to hell.”
“Well, are you,” asked the preacher.

The man started to go to a Bible study. The teacher asked, “What are you looking for?” His life at that time was a wreck. His wife was about to leave him. He says he was a total jerk. And he said to the teacher, “Peace. I just want peace.” The teacher helped the man turn to Galatians 5:22, which said the fruit of the Spirit is (among other things) peace.

When someone looks at themselves and judges themselves, they can see their sin.

What are YOU looking for? Is it one of the things listed in Galatians 5:22?

The most common answers to this question are:
–Peace
–Happiness (Joy is happiness in good times and bad)
–Love
And they are the first three things in the list of the fruits of the Spirit.
How can you get these fruits of the Spirit?
By receiving Christ as your Savior.
