Fulfillment of Prophecy
The most amazing thing is not what God is able to do, But what He chose to do…He chose to create us in a way that we can know Him and have a personal relationship with Him. Even knowing that man would chose to go his own way and turn from Him, God chose to create him. Knowing a price would have to be paid, a sacrifice would have to be made, God decided it is worth the cost.
Psalms 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
God’s Power over Nature
God created everything that exists. He created some very special, beautiful places that people travel just to see the beauty. God created each of us. Not only did God create everything but He also holds everything together. He is the Sovereign Lord of the universe and everything is still subject to Him.
Jeremiah 32:17 …thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee
When we face obstacles and struggles, we should remember: the Sovereign Lord who made us has the ability and the strength to intervene in our circumstance…the ability to see us through and overcome great barriers in our life to help us get to where He wants us to be.
God delivered the Israelites with an amazing show of power from the Egyptians. Then, because of their doubt, they ended up in a hard place. But even during this hard time, God’s presence, provision, protection and power were evident. One and one-half million people crossed the Jordan River on dry land. (after the 40 years in the wilderness, the Israelites passed over the Jordan River to enter the Promised Land.) God told them exactly what to do. They did it exactly like God told them and God was faithful to do what He said He would do. (If they had said, I am going to do this my way; do you think God would have done what He said He would do?)
God’s Power over Circumstance
Daniel 6 – Daniel in the lions’ den
Even when you do the right thing you might end up in tough circumstances, sometimes because you do right. God shut the mouths of the lions. God has power even over tough circumstances. He can work in the midst of struggles to allow you to bring glory to His name during and through those difficult times. He will help you, strengthen you and comfort you in tough times. He wants to intervene in your life just like with Daniel.
God’s Power over Sin
We were created to have a relationship with God. Man chose to sin. Ruined his relationship with God and our relationships with each other.
We are sinners by nature. We inherited a sin nature from Adam. But we are also sinners by choice. We have chosen to do our own ling instead of what God has called us to do. We live our own life instead of seeking the life God has planned for us.
Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is Death.
Nothing WE do can clean up our lives.
But God has power over sin and he made a way for us to be clean.
God’s Power over Death
Jesus went to the cross. He suffered crucifixion then He was resurrected. God has power over death.
Romans 5:8 While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The cross purifies, cleanses and restores us to the relationship God intended.
Even when we were God’s enemy
Even when we doubted
Even when we cursed His name
Even when we refused to follow His plan
Even when we put down those who follow Him and built up those who would work against Him
Christ died for us
Think of your enemy who is hardest to love. We have been all of those things to God (and more)…we as mankind and we personally. And yet while we were yet His enemy (in rebellion) God provided a substitute to take our punishment. Jesus died for our sin.
God’s Power over Life
God offers you the gift of eternal life. But the gift has to be received.
The way you receive that gift.
A – Admit, Agree
Admit you are a sinner
Agree with God that you have done things against His will
And done things He did not intend for you to do
B – Believe Jesus is who He said he is
He is the Son of God. He died and was buried. He was raised and is in Heaven, preparing a place for us. He will return and take us to that place.
C – Confess/Commit
Romans 10:9 Confess that Jesus is Lord
Commit to make him Lord of your life. Follow and serve him.
