Nobleman’s Son

Jesus went to Cana of Galilee again, where he changed the water into wine.

There was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum (16.5 miles away).

When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went to Jesus. He begged Jesus to come to Capernaum and heal his son, because his son was at the point of death.

Jesus: Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe.

The nobleman: Sir, come down before my child dies.

Jesus: Go your way, your son lives.

The man believed the words that Jesus had spoken to him, and he went his way.

As he was going home, his servants met him.

Servants (to the nobleman): Your son lives.

Nobleman: At what hour did he begin to improve.

Servants: The fever left him yesterday at 1pm.

So the father knew that it was at the same hour that Jesus said to him, Your son lives.

He and his whole house believed.

This is the second miracle that Jesus did when he came out of Judaea into Galilee.

(The second of seven miracle that John recorded to show that Jesus is God.)

John 4:46-54
